Movie-Night Butter Popcorn

Cinema-style popcorn made without oil or bags: the kernels pop dry in the microwave, then get a coating of salted, peppered butter. The WOW Pop Popcorn Maker has a cover that turns from vented to closed, so you can pop, sift out the unpopped kernels and shake in the butter in the same container.

Method

  1. Mash the softened butter with the salt and a little pepper in a small bowl.

  2. Put the kernels on their own, with no oil, in the Tupperware WOW Pop Popcorn Maker. Turn the cover to the open position, lining up its vented side with the holes in the base.

  3. Microwave on high power (1000 W maximum) with the timer set to 3 minutes. Stay close and stop the microwave as soon as the pops come about 2 seconds apart; depending on your oven this may take a little less or a little more than 3 minutes.

  4. With the cover still open, shake out any unpopped kernels.

  5. Add the seasoned butter to the hot popcorn, turn the cover to the closed position and shake gently for about 30 seconds until the butter has melted. If some is still solid, microwave for 10 to 20 seconds at 50% power (500 W) and shake again.
