Strawberry and Blueberry Shaved Ice Syrups

Two brightly coloured fruit syrups, one strawberry and one blueberry, for pouring over shaved ice. The MicroCook Pitcher dissolves the sugar and softens the fruit in a few minutes, and the SuperSonic Chopper Tall purées it without a blender.

Method

  1. In the Tupperware MicroCook Pitcher 500 ml (2 cups), stir the strawberries with 1 cup (240 ml) water, 1 cup (200 g) sugar and 1/8 tsp salt. Microwave at full power (1000 W) for 2 1/2 minutes.

  2. Pour into a bowl and leave for 5 minutes, until the fruit is soft. Meanwhile, cook the blueberries in the same way with the remaining water, sugar and salt.

  3. Transfer the strawberry mixture to the Tupperware SuperSonic Chopper Tall fitted with the blade, close and pull the cord until puréed, then return it to its bowl. Rinse the chopper and blade and purée the blueberries.

  4. Strain each purée into its own Squeeze It bottle. Add a little water if you prefer a thinner syrup.
