Ladybird Cake

A children's party cake shaped like a ladybird, built on a simple lemon sponge. The Football Mould gives the rounded shell shape straight from the oven, so decorating comes down to a red sugarpaste cover, black spots and a head.

Method

  1. Preheat a fan oven to 170 °C (340 °F).

  2. In the Tupperware Mixing Bowl 3.25 l, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla sugar and cornflour.

  3. Add the butter, then the lemon zest, then the eggs, and beat briskly into a smooth batter.

  4. Pour the batter into the Tupperware Football Mould set on the cold oven rack and bake for about 50 minutes. Turn the cake out and let it cool completely.

  5. Spread a thin layer of jam over the cake. Roll out the red sugarpaste into a 28 cm (11 in) circle on the Tupperware pastry sheet with the Modulo rolling pin, lay it over the cake and press it on well.

  6. Roll out the black sugarpaste the same way and cut out the head, spots, legs and the pupils. Stick them on the red shell, using white sugarpaste for the eyes. Push the vanilla pods into the head as antennae.
