Football Cake

A domed lemon cake dressed as a football for a birthday or match-day party. The Football Mould bakes the sponge into a half-ball shape, so all that is left is a coat of apricot jam, a disc of white sugarpaste and the black patches.

Method

  1. Preheat a fan oven to 170 °C (340 °F).

  2. In the Tupperware Mixing Bowl 3.25 l, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla sugar and cornflour.

  3. Add the butter, then the lemon zest, then the eggs, and beat briskly into a smooth batter.

  4. Pour the batter into the Tupperware Football Mould set on the cold oven rack and bake for about 50 minutes. Turn the cake out and let it cool completely.

  5. Spread a thin layer of jam over the cake. Knead the white sugarpaste and roll it out into a 28 cm (11 in) circle on the Tupperware pastry sheet with the Modulo rolling pin.

  6. Lay the sugarpaste over the cake and press it on well. Paint the pentagons in black, or cut them from black sugarpaste and stick them on.
