Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Grease the Tupperware Ultra Pro 3.5-qt (3.3 l) lasagna pan with the softened butter.

  2. In a medium Tupperware Thatsa Bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, cream and 1 tsp of the spice blend.

  3. Cut the bread into 1-inch (2.5 cm) cubes and spread half of them in the Ultra Pro. Dot with small pieces of cream cheese and pour over half of the egg mixture. Add the rest of the bread and pour the remaining egg mixture over the top.

  4. For the topping, mix the flour, brown sugar and remaining spice blend in a bowl. Add the cold butter in small pieces and rub it in until it forms pebble-sized crumbs, then scatter them over the casserole.

  5. Bake uncovered for 50 to 60 minutes, until the custard is set in the centre. Serve with the bacon on the side.

Assemble the casserole the night before without the topping, cover and refrigerate; the bread absorbs more custard overnight. Add the crumble in the morning and allow an extra 5 to 10 minutes of baking.
