Quatre-quarts is the French pound cake, made with four ingredients in equal weights; here a layer of seasonal fruit runs through the middle. The Speedy Chef mixes the batter without electricity, and the Premiaglass casserole bakes it evenly, with its lid doubling as a serving plate for turning it out.

  4. Pour half the batter into the casserole, spread the fruit over it, then cover with the rest of the batter, smoothing it with the silicone spatula.

  5. Bake uncovered for about 35 minutes.
